Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our team. This role involves providing direct support and therapeutic services to individuals, including those who have been previously incarcerated. The ideal candidate is empathetic, organized, and experienced in delivering both individual and group counseling services.

Minimum Qualifications

Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor through an approved certifying body (e.g., CCAPP, CADTP, or equivalent) is preferred. A registered SUD Counselor will be considered

Current CPR and First Aid Certification

Ability to pass:

FBI/DOJ Live Scan background check

Strong ethical standards and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

Certification or training in:

Batterers Intervention Programs (BIP)

Anger Management

Experience working with justice-involved or previously incarcerated populations

Key Responsibilities

Conduct individual (1:1) counseling sessions

Facilitate group counseling sessions

Develop and maintain treatment plans

Provide basic case management services

Maintain accurate and timely client documentation

Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity

Support clients in achieving recovery and reintegration goals

Skills & Competencies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to build trust with diverse populations

Knowledge of substance use treatment modalities

Proficiency in standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, EHR systems)

Strong typing and documentation skills

Ability to manage time and caseload effectively
