Lead Medical Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and experienced Lead Medical Assistant to join our Orthopaedic team.


This leadership role is ideal for a highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces daily challenges, and is passionate about supporting both patients and clinical staff.


Position Summary

The Lead Medical Assistant serves as a clinical and operational leader within the practice, supporting physicians and staff while ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical and administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a busy orthopaedic setting.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and support back-office clinical operations and staff.
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Coordinate daily clinic workflow to ensure efficiency and quality patient care.
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, document medical histories, and prepare examination rooms.
  • Perform surgery scheduling and coordinate patient care activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system.
  • Assist with patient education and follow-up care instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Train, mentor, and support medical assistant staff as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams.
  • Troubleshoot daily operational challenges and help implement workflow improvements.


Qualifications Required

  • Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Lead Medical Assistant or Back Office Lead experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical and administrative medical office experience.
  • Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR); ModMed experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to accept and implement constructive feedback.
  • Surgery scheduling experience


Preferred but not required

  • Orthopaedic experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Certified Phlebotomist credential.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring clinical staff.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for more than 4 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit for more than 3 hours per day.
  • Ability to work on a computer for more than 6 hours per day.

Location Requirements

Candidates must be able to commute to all 5 locations. Relocation to the area prior to employment is required if not currently local.
