Job Summary:

Davis Manufacturing is seeking a Buyer/Planner to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Engaging in aerospace and defense fields, Davis Manufacturing provides responsive, cost-effective engineering and manufacturing solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer/Planner to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate plans and releases work orders based on customer needs and factory capacity. Purchase parts and services to support business and customer requirements, selects appropriate suppliers, monitors and manages supplier performance. Reviews shipping schedule and communicates to the factory managers the jobs and work orders that need to be shipped.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor customer forecasts and demands, creates and releases work orders and purchase orders to support requirements.

Supports RFQ process and works with estimation to ensure that quotes are received timely.

Monitors backlog and work with factory managers and shipping supervisor to ensure that shipments occur on time.

Selects appropriate suppliers to meet requirements.

Monitor capacity at suppliers, expedites as required.

Manage and maintain supplier quality, delivery and cost performance.

Understands and follows AS9100 and customer requirements before ordering hardware or services.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Supply Chain Management background

Competent in use of computer software

Competent in written and verbal communications

Basic understanding of manufacturing workflow

Understanding of MRP/ERP concepts and processes

Education:

BS/BA degree. Technical degree preferred; Minimum High school diploma / GED with experience

Min experience:

5 years as planner / scheduler or buyer in discrete manufacturing environment
