Job description

Aptean ERP Specialist

Role Overview

This position is for an Aptean ERP subject matter expert who can support, configure, and improve an Aptean ERP environment in a manufacturing/production setting. It blends functional ERP knowledge (business processes) with technical skills (configuration, troubleshooting, integrations, reporting).

The role supports shopfloor operations and production planning, so it s best suited for someone who has worked closely with manufacturing teams rather than purely IT-only ERP roles.

Key Experience Requirements (Explained)

Extensive Aptean ERP Experience

They want someone who has hands-on, real-world experience working with Aptean ERP not just exposure. This includes:

  • System configuration and setup
  • Supporting users and resolving ERP-related issues
  • Understanding Aptean s data structure and workflows
  • Working across multiple modules, not just one area

SFC (Shop Floor Control) Experience

SFC is critical here. This means experience with:

  • Production scheduling and job tracking
  • Work orders, labor reporting, machine time, scrap, and yields
  • Real-time shop floor data capture
  • Supporting manufacturing supervisors and operators

They want someone who understands how ERP interacts with real production activities, not just back-office processes.

Production / Manufacturing Background

This is not optional. They are specifically looking for someone who:

  • Has worked in or supported manufacturing environments
  • Understands concepts like BOMs, routings, capacity planning, work centers, and production runs
  • Can translate between plant floor users and ERP system logic

This helps ensure smoother collaboration with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams.

RLM (Release Lifecycle Management) Module Experience

Experience with Aptean RLM modules is important, which typically includes:

  • Managing releases, revisions, and change control
  • Coordinating production releases and lifecycle stages
  • Ensuring data consistency across production and planning

This is especially relevant in environments with frequent design or process changes.

Technical + Functional Responsibilities

This is a hybrid role, meaning you ll wear two hats:

Technical

  • Configure and maintain Aptean ERP modules
  • Troubleshoot system issues
  • Support upgrades, patches, and version changes
  • Ensure system stability and performance
  • Work with IT or vendors on integrations and enhancements

Functional

  • Work directly with business users (production, planning, supply chain, finance)
  • Gather requirements and translate them into ERP solutions
  • Optimize workflows and business processes within Aptean
  • Train users and support adoption

Documentation & Collaboration

You ll also be responsible for:

  • Writing technical specifications
  • Creating user guides and procedures
  • Documenting configurations and customizations
  • Acting as a liaison between users, management, and technical teams

Strong communication skills are important here.

Continuous Improvement

They expect you to:

  • Stay current on Aptean ERP updates, releases, and best practices
  • Recommend process improvements based on system capabilities
  • Help the organization get more value from the ERP investment

Certifications & Work Setup

  • PM Certification (A PLUS) Not required, but highly preferred
