Reports To: Utility Metering SupervisorEmployment Type: Full-TimeJob SummaryThe AMR Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and reading of electric, gas, and water meters through Dalton Utilities Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) program. This position involves manual, visual, and electronic meter reading, customer service interactions, and close coordination with the Billing Department to ensure accurate and timely billing.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, repair, and read electric, gas, and water meters using AMR technology or manual methods when requiredElectronically and manually read meters using meter collection equipmentAnalyze AMR data to identify irregular or inconsistent usageWork closely with the Billing Department to meet billing deadlinesProgram gas and water meters using approved tools and technologySet new meters, perform meter change-outs, and check for unauthorized meter turn-onsComplete service orders including check reads, cut-offs, reconnects, removals, and readoutsPerform water pressure checks and repair water leaks at meters as neededUse GPS tools and software to locate meters and attach photos to document meter conditionsRetrieve and replace meter boxes and lids as neededMaintain stocked vehicles with required tools and suppliesCommunicate effectively with Customer Service and Utility Service departmentsMaintain a professional appearance and keep assigned vehicles cleanOperate tools and equipment such as pickup trucks, radios, hand tools, piping tools, and related equipmentPerform other related duties as assignedPhysical RequirementsWalk long distances between services, including hills and stairsFrequently enter and exit vehiclesBend, stoop, reach, and stand for extended periodsLift up to 75 poundsClear meter boxes of debris, vegetation, insects, soil, and standing waterUse ladders and work in confined spaces such as meter pits (must not be claustrophobic)Work outdoors in all weather conditionsRegular hours of this position are 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m., Monday Friday with some overtime possible.Pay Range$17.60/hour - $23.60/hour
