Job description

We are seeking an in-office Junior Litigation Paralegal to support plaintiff medical malpractice and birth injury litigation from case investigation through trial preparation. The ideal candidate is experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented, and has the ability to manage deadlines, communicate effectively, and keep complex, fast-paced civil litigation moving forward. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. This role is not eligible for remote work. Please do not apply if you do not meet the minimum qualifications. 

Compensation: $55,000-$68,000, depending on experience. Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation.

Responsibilities:

What You’ll Own 

  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, disclosures, discovery and deposition requests, notices, and other litigation documents.

  • Maintain and organize electronic documents pursuant to firm procedures, as well as perform e-filing and e-service duties.

  • Coordinate scheduling of depositions, hearings, and other case settings, phone calls, and meetings.

  • Maintain current case data in Filevine, communicate regularly with clients, maintain calendar and deadlines, request and manage subrogation information, and conduct background research and investigation.

  • Prepare for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials, including gathering relevant documents and assembling attorney materials. 

  • Communicate with expert witnesses, including transmittal of documents and records, and facilitating meetings and depositions.

Backup Responsibilities 

  • Perform case administration tasks, including opening and closing cases. 

  • Support drafting motions, pleadings, petitions, settlement documents, and other legal materials. 

  • Provide administrative and office support, including incoming/outgoing mail, postage, faxes, supplies, conference room preparation, guest reception, law library maintenance, shredding, and general office coordination. 


Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For 

  • 1–3 years of solid experience in plaintiff-side medical malpractice and/or personal injury litigation. 

  • Strong command of Texas civil procedure and local court rules. 

  • Proficiency with Filevine, Office 365, a document management system, and/or similar tools. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines. 

  • Organized, meticulous, dependable, and comfortable working on a team in a client-focused environment where things move quickly.
