Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Plant Operations Engineer II at La Paz Regional Hospital & Clinics, play a key role helping our department meet our daily goals. Plant Operations Engineer II will apply expertise to support or daily projects and ensure quality standards are met. This position requires a strong foundation in engineering principles, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the Plant Ops team.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1.Perform daily tasks such as documentation of readings found on our equipment, some plumbing, electrical, changing of air filters, belts, cleaning of coils on HVAC units, painting and drywall repairs.

2.Technical Analysis: Conduct analysis and testing of electrical systems and components. Evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary modifications.

3.Documentation: Create and maintain accurate technical documentation and user manuals. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with company standards.

4.Problem Solving: Identify technical issues and provide solutions by analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions. Support troubleshooting efforts and provide technical guidance as needed.

5.Quality Assurance: Monitor and ensure that engineering processes and outputs meet quality standards. Participate in quality reviews and audits to maintain compliance with industry regulations.

6.Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and talk directly with the Director on jobs to be performed. Share knowledge and achieve project goals. Actively participate in team meetings and provide updates on project progress.

7.Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Contribute to process improvements and recommend enhancements to existing systems and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.

Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.

Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.

Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.

May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids.

Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.

May require periodic use of personal computer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent two (2) year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. One or more certifications in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing required. 

Must be able to read blueprints if need be. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical information to non-technical employees. Must have good values and personal skills and get along with others. We deal with the entire staff and patients daily.

Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills are a plus. Our Plant Operations team works well together and bring out each other’s strong points and help each other gain strengths in areas that some may lack in. We pride ourselves in our department to provide the best service we can to make the hospital run as smooth as possible.

Facilities or departments, depending on business need, may require proof of a valid driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the company auto insurance policy. May be Required to drive to other La Paz Regional Hospital facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), OSHA certification) are preferred.
