Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Veneer Specialist to join our production team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veneer preparation, cutting, stitching, and quality control for fine architectural millwork and furniture. This individual should possess a meticulous eye for grain matching, sequencing, and color consistency, and be capable of delivering flawless veneer work from raw leaf to finished panel.

Key Responsibilities

• Select and prepare veneers according to project specifications, ensuring consistency in color and grain.
• Cut and join veneer leaves using saws, splicers, or manual methods to achieve book-matched, slip-matched, or sequence-matched patterns.
• Conduct precise veneer layups and assist with glue applications for press operations (hot or cold).
• Inspect veneer faces and pressed panels for quality, alignment, and surface uniformity.
• Maintain veneer inventory, organization, and labeling.
• Collaborate closely with the finishing, engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure production flow and quality standards are met.
• Uphold a clean and safe working environment in accordance with shop safety policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in veneer preparation and layup within a custom millwork or furniture shop.
• Strong understanding of veneer matching techniques and wood species identification.
• Proficient with veneer cutting, splicing, and pressing equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and capable of working independently.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $35–$50, based on experience level
