Job Description:

The Food Safety Assistant will be responsible for assisting in food safety program as well as food safety compliance with regulatory departments and laws. This individual will work with the company’s QA system, promote customer satisfaction, ensure growers and suppliers have an established and working Food Safety System. The position should foster a culture of positive, proactive Food Safety throughout the organization to help ensure that food safety goals are met.

Position Responsibilities Include:

• Assist all aspects of compliance with established food safety and quality protocols, standards, and regulations.
• Act as Food Safety Liaison for third party audits; regulatory and customer inspections during site visits.
• Participate in product recalls. Assist in maintaining procedures and documentation for product recalls and tracking, mock recalls, and trace back exercises.
• Help with customer requests for Food Safety Information and issues.
• Collect food safety documentation and compliance paperwork for new and existing growers/supplier.
• Assist the team of professionals, ensuring proper documentation and an organized filing system.
• Assist with periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure compliance procedures are followed.
• Keep operation in compliance each season and assist with the Organic Program.
• Participate in the maintenance of customer portals and customer requirements.
• Assure and participate in insuring supplier compliance with the companies Food Safety requirements, both domestic and foreign.

Qualifications:

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiency.
• Attention to detail and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate a minimum comprehensive food safety program and/or work experience.
• Knowledge in Food Science, Agricultural Science, Microbiology, related science program; through education or equivalent work experience.
• Exhibit proficiency in Famous Software.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
