RIDGEVIEW Behavioral Health Services, a not-for-profit community mental health center based in Oak Ridge, TN, has an opening for a part-time Bachelor's Level Children's Respite Consultant to provide services through the Respite Rocks! program.  This hands-on position is suitable for a new graduate or early career social worker/ counselor.

REQUIREMENTS

BS/BA in Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.  Valid driver's license with "for hire" endorsement, and an acceptable motor vehicle record and background screening.  Minimum of one year experience working with children, youth, and/or families.  Must be capable of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with children, youth, families, and referral sources.  Must have interpersonal skills for relating to seriously emotionally disturbed youth.

JOB DUTIES

The Respite Consultant is responsible for the delivery of the grant-funded planned respite program to families of children with serious emotional disturbance, Autism, or serious behavior disorders.  This includes the provision of immediate respite for families, assistance in the development of a long-term respite strategy for each family, and the training of caregivers in behavior management skills.  The Respite Consultant provides these services in a belief that respite programming enables the maintenance of the family structure and prevents the placement of children outside the home.
