Job description

Cultivate Intellect | West Palm Beach, FL

Primarily Remote | Part-Time | W-2 Employee

$25–$30/hour | Approximately 5–20 hours/week

About Cultivate Intellect

Cultivate Intellect is a growing tutoring and academic mentorship company based in West Palm Beach. We support middle school, high school, and college students through individualized tutoring, test preparation, academic coaching, and mentorship.

We believe great tutoring goes beyond helping a student finish tonight’s homework. Our goal is to help students strengthen their academic skills while becoming more confident, organized, accountable, and independent learners.

We’re looking for another tutor and academic mentor who genuinely enjoys working with students and wants to make a meaningful impact.

The Role

This is a part-time tutoring and academic mentorship position working primarily with middle and high school students. Most tutoring is conducted virtually, with optional in-person opportunities for tutors located in Palm Beach County.

Our students have a wide variety of needs. You may work with a student who needs help rebuilding their Algebra foundation, another preparing for the SAT or ACT, and another who needs support navigating an advanced high school course.

Because of this, we are especially interested in academically versatile candidates who are comfortable learning new material and adapting to different students, subjects, and curricula.

You do not need to know every subject or academic program on day one. You do need to be resourceful, coachable, academically strong, and willing to learn.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide individualized tutoring to middle and high school students
  • Tutor across multiple subjects based on your academic strengths, with a strong preference for candidates comfortable with math through at least Algebra 2
  • Support students with reading, writing, study skills, organization, time management, and test preparation as appropriate
  • Help students prepare for coursework, quizzes, exams, standardized tests, and major assignments
  • Adapt explanations and teaching strategies to individual learning styles and needs
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and accountability
  • Help students develop confidence and independence rather than simply providing answers
  • Prepare appropriately for tutoring sessions
  • Complete clear and timely session notes and track student progress
  • Communicate concerns, progress, or important observations with the Cultivate Intellect team
  • Learn unfamiliar curricula, academic programs, and educational platforms as needed

Who We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Academically strong and intellectually curious
  • Versatile across multiple academic subjects
  • Comfortable tutoring math, ideally through at least Algebra 2
  • A strong reader and writer with solid English communication skills
  • Patient, encouraging, and able to connect with teenagers
  • Comfortable holding students accountable while remaining empathetic and supportive
  • Dependable and able to maintain a consistent recurring schedule
  • Organized and responsive
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
  • Resourceful when encountering unfamiliar material
  • Coachable and receptive to feedback
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new digital platforms
  • Able to recognize when a student needs additional support and communicate concerns proactively

Experience with SAT/ACT preparation, AICE, AP, FLVS, executive-functioning support, or college-level coursework is a plus, but is not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, recent college graduate, or current college senior with a strong academic record preferred
  • At least one year of tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or related experience preferred
  • Strong academic background and demonstrated subject-matter competency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable internet connection and appropriate environment for virtual tutoring
  • Availability during after-school/evening hours and/or weekends
  • Candidates interested in occasional in-person tutoring must be located in Palm Beach County and have reliable transportation

Exceptional college students with limited formal tutoring experience are still encouraged to apply if they have a strong academic record, maturity, communication skills, and relevant mentoring or leadership experience.

Schedule

This position is expected to average approximately 5–20 hours per week, although hours will vary based on student demand, tutor availability, seasonality, and student-tutor matching. Additional hours may become available as your student caseload grows.

Tutors provide their recurring availability, and students are scheduled within those hours. We offer flexibility in establishing your schedule, but once you accept a recurring student, consistency and reliability are extremely important.

Compensation & Employment

  • $25–$30/hour, based on qualifications and experience
  • Part-time W-2 employee position
  • Flexible recurring schedule
  • Primarily virtual
  • Optional in-person tutoring opportunities for local tutors
  • Opportunities to expand your caseload and responsibilities over time

Growth Opportunities

Cultivate Intellect is a small and growing education company. While this position is focused primarily on tutoring and student mentorship, strong team members may have opportunities over time to contribute to SAT/ACT preparation, workshops, curriculum development, student strategy, administrative and operational support, and other areas based on their strengths, interests, and company needs.
