Job Description

Primary Duties

Coaches student-athletes, including leading all team practices and scheduled games/competitions; develops game preparation and strategy; conditions and trains student-athletes in order to develop skill, character, and teamwork in softball.


Manages the softball program by planning and coordinating all practices, workouts, and competitions; ensures all University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed, including student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling, and academic progress; manages the program's operating budget through procurement requests and travel reimbursements; and supervises assistant coaches.


Recruits qualified prospective student-athletes.


Monitors player academics, including student-athlete welfare, and encourages academic excellence.

Organizes team camps; develops fund-raising opportunities; serves on committees that promote success of the program and athletics; establishes and maintains community contacts and enhances the success of the program.

Ancillary Duties

Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year institution
  • Work nights and weekends
  • Physical ability to fulfill duties of the position Knowledge of NCAA and/or RMAC rules and regulations
  • Able to demonstrate successful skills in cooperation, organization, communication and problem solving
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative and respectful work environment
  • Two years of successful coaching in the sport of softball at the high school or collegiate level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited 4-year institution
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate, teach and counsel student-athletes
  • Successful experience coaching at the collegiate level in softball
  • Previous experience recruiting NCAA qualified student-athletes
  • Experience working with a broad range of students and a commitment to student success

Salary

$54,900 to 62,500
