Overview

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating a full range of heavy equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator is a full-time, seasonal position that requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the Foreman, and has no supervisory responsibility. Take ownership of your role by completing pre- and post-shift equipment inspections, servicing equipment, and producing products efficiently and safely while working with a team that feels like family.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a full range of heavy equipment (i.e., skid steer loader, front-end loader, excavator, crusher, dredge, dozer, backhoe, etc.).
  • Operate and maintain other equipment as needed.
  • Perform inspections and maintenance of equipment such as greasing, checking oil, water, and tires/tracks.
  • Perform physical duties about aggregate work (i.e., shovel, grade, etc.).
  • Follow, enforce, and promote all company safety and quality requirements at all times.
  • Ensure equipment preventative maintenance is performed timely, thoroughly, and correctly at all times.
  • Consistently keep work area clean and organized to promote professionalism, safety, and efficiency.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive.

Requirements

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • One to three years of experience in heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of road construction materials, processes, and industry requirements.
  • Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal.
  • Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.
  • A positive attitude is critical to ensure productive working relationships with co-workers and management.
  • Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, dusty conditions, and working outdoors.
