Job description

Creo College Prep is a new public charter middle school that opened in 2019 with a founding class of 5th grade students. Next year, we are growing to educate students in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. We are building our founding team of hardworking, results-oriented educators who embody our mission: to educate students to thrive in college and to assume responsibility for identifying and solving problems in our community and our world.

We are seeking a high-capacity, dynamic educator to serve as a Founding Teacher in the following subjects, in 5th - 7th grade: Computer Science, ELA, History, Math, Science, and Health & Wellness.

THRIVE at Creo

Work with a team of like-minded, mission aligned educators who believe that we should be a better teacher tomorrow than we are today. Your hard work is supported by daily and weekly observation and coaching, for all teachers. We respect teachers; our team is provided high-quality curriculum, supplies, and protected work time and space. Our benefits are designed for you to be your best self for our students, every day. We believe in working hard, and we believe in working smart. We prize ingenuity – do you get excited about 6th graders building their own circuits? Do you know that 5th graders can grow two reading levels in a year with the right approach? Can you already see the 7th grade production of Othello? Here, you can make it happen.

Founders are leaders. Make your voice heard as a founding team member, building a school from the ground up. Our staff begins each year with four weeks of professional development in the summer because we believe our students deserve an excellent staff, and we know that excellence is the result of practice, iteration, and never being satisfied with our last effort.

We aren't walking into a school – we're building one. The work will be hard, and it will be worth it.

  • Internalize and own provided curricula; prepare Creo College Prep materials to deliver high-quality instruction every single day
  • Implement with fidelity and enthusiasm Creo College Prep classroom and school routines, procedures, and expectations to ensure a consistent, safe, and kind experience for all students and staff
  • Consistently provide students with academic and behavioral feedback for rapid, measurable growth
  • Participate actively and productively in all professional development, coaching, and planning.
  • Promptly implement coaching feedback into teaching
  • Communicate regularly with families
  • Collect and analyze student data to plan intervention, revise plans, and improve your practice
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, service providers, and families to accommodate every student’s need and ensure every student’s success

Competencies & Qualifications
  • Unwavering high expectations for all students and a belief that all children deserve access to college
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ambition and desire to grow as a leader of staff and students
  • Bachelor’s degree required; minimum two years of teaching experience preferred
  • New York State teaching license preferred; dual certification in Special Education or TESOL preferred
  • Strong proficiency in technological tools, including Google Drive
  • Capacity and desire to grow every day based on data and feedback
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and take on anything necessary - a “no task is beneath me” attitude
  • Positivity and enthusiasm - we are fortunate to do this work and to work with our students
