Job description

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who performs work related to personnel management, financial management, work organization and planning for the execution of complex administrative tasks by compiling and analyzing data.
This job title also includes the person who is responsible for the administrative operation of a department and who oversees the department's internal and external relations. She/he is responsible for the activities of the department's office personnel.

SPECIFIC FUNCTION
The Administrative Technician, Compensation and Benefits, provides technical and administrative support in the areas of compensation, group insurance, employee records management, and statutory leave administration. The incumbent coordinates employee benefits programs, including the Beneva group insurance plan, processes employment-related transactions, maintains accurate HR data, and provides guidance to employees and managers regarding compensation and benefits matters. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to interpret policies, collective agreements, and administrative procedures while ensuring compliance and delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities
• Administer employee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and collective agreements.
• Coordinate the administration of the Beneva group insurance plan, including employee enrollments, modifications, terminations, premium adjustments, and employee inquiries.
• Monitor and administer employee eligibility for group insurance coverage and coordinate required updates with the insurance provider.
• Coordinate maternity, paternity, parental, adoption, and other statutory leave requests.
• Process and verify employee transactions related to hiring, transfers, salary adjustments, leaves of absence, and employment status changes.
• Maintain and update employee records and HR information systems, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of employee data.
• Respond to inquiries from employees and managers regarding compensation, group insurance, parental leaves, and other benefits-related matters.
• Collaborate with Payroll, Human Resources, managers, and external providers to ensure the timely and accurate administration of employee programs.
• Interpret and apply organizational policies, collective agreements, and administrative procedures.
• Ensure compliance with confidentiality requirements and established administrative standards.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Must have a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in general administration, accounting and management techniques, office automation techniques or another appropriate college discipline from a school recognized by the competent ministry or a College Attestation (AEC) relevant to the field in question;
• A College Certificate in administrative techniques may also be considered.

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Good knowledge of administrative theory, systems, techniques and practices;
• Knowledge of the MSSS Network and administrative regulations is an asset;
• Good knowledge and ability in office computer applications (Microsoft office suite & Virtuo );
• Proactive;

Experience:
• Two (2) years of relevant experience is an asset.

LANGUAGE
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree and/or French is an asset.

OTHER
Assessment Requirements: Candidates must complete the following tests in English: Word Test, Excel Test, and General Aptitude Test (mathematical calculations and administrative reasoning). A minimum score of 70% is required on each assessment to be considered for appointment.
