Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor at Countyside Psychiatric Services, you will:

  • Conduct in-depth assessments to determine the severity and impact of mood disorder symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
  • Collaborate with clients to co-create personalized treatment plans that reflect their unique goals and preferences, utilizing a holistic approach to care.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailored to each client's needs.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients and their families, educating them about mood disorders, treatment options, and strategies for self-care.
  • Regularly track and evaluate clients’ progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on their feedback and clinical developments.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure an integrated approach to client care.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in the field of mental health, incorporating new findings into your practice.
  • Accurately document all client interactions, assessments, and treatment updates, adhering to regulatory and ethical compliance standards.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, clinical consultations, and professional development sessions to continually enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Advocate for clients' mental health needs while working toward reducing the stigma associated with mood disorders in the community.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will focus primarily on adults and adolescents experiencing various mood disorders. You’ll have the opportunity to support clients from diverse backgrounds, enabling them to navigate their mental health challenges in a compassionate and understanding manner. The role allows you to engage meaningfully with individuals seeking both short-term relief and long-term management of their mental health concerns.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in New Jersey.
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment methodologies for mood disorders, particularly CBT and DBT.
  • A solid understanding of psychopharmacology to effectively collaborate with psychiatrists and maximize patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster rapport with clients and uphold a nonjudgmental approach to therapy.
Preferred Experience

Experience in a clinical outpatient setting is highly desirable, particularly with a focus on treating mood disorders. Evidence of successful patient outcomes and familiarity with electronic health record systems would also be advantageous.
