Job description

Position Summary

Assists with clerical and event support for CSU Extension county programs. Assists Extension staff with day-to-day office operations, volunteer support, and logistics for 4-H, Master Gardener, and county events, including the Elbert County Fair.

Essential Duties

  • Perform basic office duties: filing, copying, scanning, and assisting with data entry.
  • Assist in the preparation of program materials, packets, and correspondence.
  • Assist with front desk duties, including answering phones and greeting visitors.
  • Assist with event logistics, materials preparation, setup, and teardown.
  • Provide support to volunteers before and during events.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of fair and program materials.
  • Provide general support to Extension staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong organizational and clerical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks independently
  • Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience in clerical, administrative, or event support roles
  • Experience working with volunteers or public programs
  • Familiarity with 4-H, Extension, agriculture, or community-based programs

Work Conditions & Requirements

  • Flexible schedule (up to 20 hours/week or 40 hours in a two-week pay period)
    • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required during peak programming periods, including county fair season. Post-Fair season may require fewer hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
