We are seeking a highly driven and experienced General Manager to lead and grow our commercial roofing operations, with a strong emphasis on service contracts, maintenance programs, and repair projects for property management firms and commercial building owners. This role requires a hands-on leader who can oversee day-to-day operations, manage estimating and project execution, and drive business development efforts to expand our client base and recurring revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities Operations Management
- Oversee all daily operations, including service, repairs, maintenance crews, and project execution
- Ensure jobs are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Develop and implement operational processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Monitor scheduling, dispatching, and workforce allocation to maximize utilization
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for roofing repairs, service work, and small-to-mid-sized projects
- Conduct site inspections, assess roofing conditions, and recommend appropriate solutions
- Review contracts, scopes of work, and proposals to ensure clarity and profitability
- Track job costs, margins, and performance to ensure financial targets are met
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure smooth project handoffs and execution
- Build and maintain strong relationships with property managers, facility managers, and commercial clients
- Identify and pursue new service contracts, maintenance agreements, and repair opportunities
- Develop strategic partnerships to grow recurring revenue
- Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings
- Support marketing and sales initiatives to expand market presence
- Lead, mentor, and develop office staff, estimators, and field personnel
- Recruit, train, and retain high-performing team members
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Conduct performance reviews and set clear expectations for team members
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance of the division
- Monitor KPIs such as revenue growth, gross margins, job profitability, and customer retention
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational efficiencies
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in commercial roofing, with a strong focus on service and repairs
- Proven experience in operations management, estimating, and business development
- Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and job costing
- Proficiency in estimating and project management software
Preferred Qualifications
- Established relationships with property management firms and commercial clients
- Experience growing a service-based roofing division or recurring revenue stream
- OSHA certification or strong safety background
