This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing for a balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being. While you will primarily engage with patients through virtual sessions, our collaborative approach ensures that you remain an integral part of the Core Life team. You’ll have opportunities for regular meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development, all designed to promote a supportive network among colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized therapeutic strategies aimed at trauma recovery, focusing on building resilience and fostering lasting changes in behavior.
  • Implement evidence-based practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in individual and group therapy settings.
  • Facilitate both one-on-one and group therapy sessions to promote understanding and healing, helping patients process their experiences and develop effective coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care that addresses each patient’s unique challenges.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention for patients experiencing trauma-related emergencies, ensuring safety and effective support.
  • Educate patients and their families on understanding trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available resources for sustained recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records as per ethical and legal guidelines, ensuring compliance in all documentation practices.
  • Engage in ongoing education and team meetings focused on the latest research and techniques in trauma treatment.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is to support individuals affected by diverse forms of trauma, including, but not limited to, experiences related to abuse, neglect, or significant life disruptions. Our patient population consists of adults and adolescents seeking guidance in overcoming the psychological impacts of their traumatic experiences. As a licensed mental health counselor, you will provide proactive care that addresses each patient’s emotional and psychological well-being.

Qualifications
  • Valid and current licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas.
  • A master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Proficient understanding of trauma-related disorders along with knowledge of trauma-informed treatment methodologies.
  • Empathy and exceptional communication skills to foster relationships with patients and enhance their recovery.
Preferred Experience
  • At least 2 years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, particularly in settings that focus on trauma care.
  • Demonstrated experience with trauma-specific therapeutic modalities.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other software tools for documentation and patient management.
