Northrop Grumman's Space Sector invites you to bring your pioneering spirit to our collaborative teams. As a Launch Vehicles Electrical Technician - Level 2 or 3 located in Huntsville, AL, you'll be an essential team member of missions critical to national defense.

The Launch Vehicles Electrical Technician - Level 2 or 3 will support all phases of electrical I&T engineering objectives from inception through completion. This role is responsible for supporting electrical testing at the system level for flight hardware and launch support equipment.

This position is fully on-site in Huntsville, AL. Relocation assistance is not available.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting execution of electrical test procedures at the vehicle system level as an operator

  • Following detailed work instructions to setup vehicle level electrical testing at the direction of the test conductor

  • Execution of flight avionics battery charging and maintenance

  • Reworking flight harnesses installed inside the vehicle per IPC/WHMA-A-620

  • Assist completing reviews of battery charge/discharge plots

  • Assist completing reviews of discrete verifications

  • Maintain close coordination and communication with the electrical engineering test conductor

  • Participates in daily escalation and tiered meeting structures

  • Support transition to digital work instructions (MES)

  • Support field mission campaigns and launch execution

  • Working in tight spaces and climbing up and down carriages while avoiding causing damage to surrounding components.

  • Movement of Electronic Ground Support Equipment, must be able to carry 40lbs.

Position Expectations:

  • Candidate shall possess a general knowledge of use of electronics hardware, troubleshooting, and use of mechanical hand tools.

  • Working to mechanical and electrical drawings specifications.

  • Must be able to perform work under government supervision/oversight

  • Experience supporting complex system level testing on flight hardware

  • Daily responsibilities require interfacing with space launch vehicle hardware

  • Supports production floor operations, supporting tasks of various complexity and scope relating to system level testing of launch vehicle subsystems such as ordnance verification, RF systems, telemetry verification, flight termination system, and flight simulation

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)

  • Helps identify discrepancies during testing and provides details to the test conductor

  • Assists in the execution of troubleshooting anomalies and helps develop solutions

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous process improvement and championing implementation.

  • Good interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to communicate with other technicians and engineers.

  • Accurately executing detailed manufacturing and testing instructions for flight hardware

  • Maintaining shop tools and equipment to 5S standards

  • Working within strict Engineering and Quality standards

  • Assist with mechanical assembly and disassembly as required

  • Occasional business travel may be required (< 20%).

This position can be filled by either a Level 2 OR Level 3.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.

  • Experience supporting electrical testing on flight hardware on a fully integrated vehicle

  • Experience mating/demating flight connections

  • Experience using test equipment such as digital multimeters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and power supplies

  • Hands on experience assembling, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronics, LRUs, or avionics

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.

  • Experience supporting electrical testing on flight hardware on a fully integrated vehicle

  • Experience mating/demating flight connections

  • Experience using test equipment such as digital multimeters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and power supplies

  • Hands on experience assembling, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronics, LRUs, or avionics

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • EXPERIENCE and TRAINING: Electronics training equivalent to 2 years technical trade school or military technical school.

  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $25.72 - $42.84Secondary Level Salary Range: $30.53 - $50.91The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
