Job description

The Financial Aid Representative glorifies God by assisting the students with the financial aid process, administering scholarship applications, grant-in-aid, and loan programs to provide timely, cheerful, and enthusiastic assistance to students consistent with the highest standards of Christian ethics, legal and regulatory requirements, accepted principles and procedures for postsecondary Christian education, and in cooperation with Southern California Seminary. This is a 20-25 hour a week position.

Essential Functions

1.    Acts as the main point of contact for students in dealing with the Financial Aid Office 
2.     Assists in the processing of awards and completes student financial aid eligibility in accordance to federal, state, and institutional regulations.
3.    Contacts students regarding corrections or incomplete documents in files.
4.    Assists in the awarding of financial aid to current and prospective students.
5.    Prepares financial aid packets for future and current students.
6.    Assists students with questions regarding the completion of the Financial Aid applications.
7.    Accurately and timely prepares Financial Aid forms.
8.     Provides timely reporting for external audits 
9.    Works on special projects as assigned by supervisor.
10.   Perform collateral and occasional duties as assigned.
 

Marginal Functions

1.    File and organize financial aid paperwork and records.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1.    Strong customer service and organizational skills.
2.    Ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity, both verbally and in writing
3.    Knowledge and ability in computer data management
4.    Knowledge of Title IV regulations and applicable policies and procedures.
5.    Knowledge of Federal Direct loan programs, PELL/FSEOG grants, Federal Work Study and
      Cal Grants.
6.    Strong problem-solving abilities.
7.    Ability to self-start and self-monitor work projects.

Education and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalency. College education is preferred. Minimum one year of Financial Aid experience. Or any combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform essential functions effectively, as the Director of Financial Aid shall determine.
