JOB SUMMARY:

The Logistics Account Manager is responsible for analyzing, planning, and advising on transportation strategies that enhance customer supply chain performance. This role evaluates transportation networks, market conditions, and operational data to develop logistics solutions aimed at improving cost efficiency, service reliability, and capacity planning. The position operates with significant discretion and independent judgment when advising both internal leadership and customers on transportation strategies, carrier selection frameworks, and logistics process improvements. This role focuses on analytical, advisory, and operational planning functions related to managing and optimizing logistics operations, rather than routine transactional freight booking activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Logistics Strategy & Advisory:
    • Analyze customer shipping patterns, freight lanes, and operational constraints to recommend effective transportation strategies and routing solutions.
    • Advise customers and internal stakeholders on capacity planning, carrier strategy, and freight market trends.
    • Provide consultative guidance on transportation risk mitigation, regulatory considerations, and service optimization.
  • Supply Chain Analysis:
    • Evaluate logistics data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and service reliability.
    • Conduct research on market capacity, pricing trends, and equipment availability to inform strategic transportation decisions.
    • Develop comprehensive reports and actionable recommendations for management regarding logistics performance and operational enhancements.
  • Operational Planning:
    • Design and coordinate transportation plans that align with customer supply chain objectives.
    • Determine optimal transportation approaches based on cost, service levels, equipment requirements, and market conditions.
    • Identify and recommend improvements to logistics workflows, processes, and vendor utilization.
  • Customer & Internal Consulting:
    • Act as a logistics advisor to customers on transportation best practices and supply chain efficiency.
    • Collaborate effectively with sales, operations leadership, and customers to develop long-term logistics strategies.
    • Present recommendations and operational insights to management and clients.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Assess transportation activities for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and safety standards.
    • Identify potential operational risks and develop mitigation strategies related to carrier performance, capacity constraints, and service disruptions.

Decision-Making Authority: This role regularly exercises independent judgment on significant matters, including:

  • Transportation planning strategies.
  • Operational process improvements.
  • Vendor and carrier framework recommendations.
  • Supply chain optimization initiatives.
  • Risk mitigation approaches for transportation operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in transportation logistics, supply chain analysis, or operations planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate complex logistics scenarios and recommend strategic solutions.
  • Experience interpreting freight market trends and operational data.

    PREFER QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience advising customers on transportation strategy.
    • Knowledge of freight market dynamics and carrier operations.
    • Background in supply chain analytics or logistics optimization.
