Safety Professional Job Description 

ETC has been in business since 1993. We specialize in providing superior environmental health and safety, training and consulting services to all clients that value their employees’ safety and their company’s bottom line. 

Position Overview/Description: 

The Safety Professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety training programs for ETC’s clients. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and fosters a strong safety culture within the organization. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Provide EHS training and consulting services. 

  • Required training cards – OSHA 511, NFPA 70E train-the-trainer card, Asbestos train-the-trainer card, and DOT train-the-trainer card. 

  • Additional preferred training experience in OSHA 510, RCRA, and IATA   

  • Ensure each customer is prepared and educated in safe work practices. 

  • Ability to conduct thorough needs assessments to identify safety training gaps and develop appropriate programs for ETC clients. 

  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging and effective safety training programs, including online modules, classroom sessions, and hands-on demonstrations. Cover topics that require EPA, OSHA, DOT, and MSHA expertise. 

  • Stay up to date on all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DOT, and MSHA) and ensure training programs meet these requirements. 

  • Keep personal certifications current. 

  • Facilitate training sessions, utilizing a variety of methods to maximize knowledge transfer and retention. 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for all employees, including training dates, topics covered, and assessment results. 

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes. 

  • Track and document key metrics related to safety performance. 

  • Promote a positive safety culture by actively engaging in safety initiatives and awareness campaigns. 

  • Work closely with other clients’ departments to identify and address safety training needs as requested. 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations and other relevant safety standards as requested. 

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills. 

  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs. 

  • Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training software. 

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills are important. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred. Equivalent years of work experience accepted. 

  • At least 5 years of industry experience. 

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred.
