Physician Assistant
Reports to: Director of Provider Relations
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Occupational Medicine Physician Assistant to join our team. As a Physician Assistant you will be evaluating, treating, and managing work-related injuries and illnesses. Must be able to perform certain physician’s duties including history taking, physical examination, diagnostic tests, and treatment. All under the responsible supervision of a licensed physician.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform basic medical duties such as history taking, patient evaluation, all other routine medical procedures and minor surgical procedures, diagnosis, and recommended treatment. All under the guidance and supervision of a licensed Physician.
- Conduct pre-employment and annual physical exams to ensure employees are physically able to perform their job duties.
- Collaborate with Clinical Staff to ensure patient is attended to and diagnosed with proper recommendations of employer on patient required medical care.
- Prescribe medications and therapies to manage symptoms and promote healing.
- Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures they can take to avoid future injuries.
- Assist with investigations to identify the root cause of incidents/injuries and recommend appropriate actions to improve safety and performance in the work place.
- Provide guidance with the treatment and follow-up care of patients.
- Oversee and manage the required physical evaluation programs to meet regulatory requirements; such as OSHA and CDC.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to be available for on-call shifts both evenings and weekends
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, workers' compensation laws, and OSHA standards
Education and License/Certifications:
- Must have a current California Physician Assistant license.
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.
- Must be DOT certified or certified within 30 days of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (with AED).
Physical Requirements:
- Must have ability to lift and transfer patients
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to reach assigned destination in a reasonable time frame.
- Must be able to meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, including physical examination.
