Job description
Crisis Call Center Specialist (Licensed Clinician)
Transform Lives in Real Time. Be the Calm in Someone’s Worst Moment.
Are you a licensed clinician who thrives in high-impact environments and wants to make a difference when it matters most? Join our Crisis Call Center team and serve on the front line of behavioral health crisis response—where your clinical expertise directly saves lives and connects individuals to critical care.
This is more than a call center role. As a Crisis Call Center Specialist (CCCS), you’ll play a vital role within a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), working at the intersection of behavioral health and emergency response. You’ll collaborate with 988, 911, law enforcement, EMS, and community providers to ensure individuals in crisis receive timely, trauma-informed, and clinically appropriate care.
Why This Role Stands Out?
High-Impact Clinical Work: Provide real-time intervention during moments of critical need
Integrated Public Safety Collaboration: Work alongside 911, law enforcement, EMS, and mobile crisis teams
Clinical Autonomy + Team Support: Make expert clinical decisions while supported by a multidisciplinary team
Meaningful Outcomes: Help divert individuals from unnecessary hospitalization or incarceration
Professional Growth: Expand expertise in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and system coordination
What You’ll Do
Answer 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline calls and provide immediate, compassionate, trauma-informed support
Conduct suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and de-escalation using evidence-based practices
Make critical decisions about care coordination, including when to involve 911, EMS, mobile crisis, or emergency departments
Serve as a key connector between behavioral health and public safety systems, ensuring seamless care transitions
Engage individuals and families to connect them with the least restrictive, most appropriate level of care
Collaborate with community providers, law enforcement, and hospital systems to strengthen crisis response outcomes
Maintain accurate, timely documentation aligned with 988 and PSAP standards
Participate in clinical supervision, debriefings, and ongoing training to support professional growth
Who You Are
You are a clinician who:
Is energized by fast-paced, high-stakes environments
Brings confidence, compassion, and clarity to difficult conversations
Values collaboration with both clinical and public safety partners
Is committed to equity, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care
Wants to have a direct, measurable impact on individuals in crisis
Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
Active Missouri licensure (LCSW, LPC, or equivalent) in good standing
Experience working with high-acuity or crisis populations
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
Knowledge of behavioral health and community-based services
Preferred:
Experience with 988 Lifeline, crisis hotlines, mobile crisis, or PSAP/911 settings
Substance use treatment experience
Bilingual or multilingual
What Success Looks Like
Providing calm, confident guidance during high-risk crisis calls
Making sound clinical decisions under pressure
Building trust quickly with individuals in distress
Collaborating effectively across multiple systems
Ensuring every caller experiences respect, dignity, and hope
Work Environment
This role operates in a 24/7 Public Safety Answering Point, requiring flexibility for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, mission-driven environment where every shift matters.
Why Join Us
You’ll be part of a team that believes:
Every call is an opportunity to save a life
Behavioral health deserves a seat at the public safety table
Clinicians should be empowered, supported, and continuously growing
Licensure & Ongoing Development
We support your professional growth and compliance with licensure requirements, including continuing education and supervision opportunities aligned with Missouri standards.
Ready to Make an Impact?
If you’re looking for a role where your clinical skills, judgment, and compassion truly matter—this is it!
