Working in a Correctional Environment
Position Summary:
We are a rapidly growing telecommunications company seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of customers' telecommunications systems within correctional facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service while working in a secure correctional environment. This position requires regular travel, including occasional travel to remote locations such as Nome, Bethel, and Palmer, to provide on-site installation, maintenance, and technical support. The successful candidate must be comfortable traveling independently and working in diverse environments to support our customers' operational needs.
Key Responsibilities- The duties listed below are representative and may not include all responsibilities:
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain telecommunications systems to meet customer and company requirements.
  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Perform routine testing to ensure systems are operating at peak performance.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including CAT5 and CAT6, keystones, and RJ45 connectors.
  • Perform basic computer networking tasks across Windows and Mac environments.
  • Order and replace components for various telecommunications systems and devices.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing clear communication and professional support.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training preferred.
  • Proven experience as a telecommunications or field service technician.
  • Solid understanding of telecommunications systems and components.
  • Experience in Business Telephone Systems installation and repair. (Avaya, Toshiba, Panasonic, Mitel, etc.)
  • Telecom cabling, networking and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (extensive travel required).
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
