Job description

Step into a dynamic and rewarding role that makes a lasting difference for students! As a full-time Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will provide essential services while enjoying the flexibility of visiting a variety of school environments each week. This contract opportunity begins August 25th for a period of 10–12 weeks, covering a maternity leave.

You'll collaborate with educators, students, and families across the district to create accessible, engaging learning experiences tailored to each child's unique needs. Travel between campuses offers variety and an excellent opportunity to connect with diverse learning communities.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid OSPI Certification with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students using cochlear implants and hearing aids
  • Expertise in working with FM systems and American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Prior experience in itinerant teaching or willingness to work across multiple school sites
  • Strong communication, organizational, and consultative skills
  • Ability to adapt materials and instruction to meet individualized student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students in inclusive and resource settings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Facilitate communication access using appropriate technology and strategies
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress
  • Advise on accommodations and modifications for DHH learners
  • Serve as a resource and advocate within the school community
