Coast Range Restaurant is seeking a skilled, driven Cook to round out our culinary team and uphold the standard of excellence that has made us a Central Coast culinary destination.

You’ll help reinforce standards, and ensure every plate reflects the craftsmanship, care, and hospitality Coast Range is known for.

JOB TITLE:

REPORTS TO:

Sous Chef / Executive Chef

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the daily preparation and service of food items, ensuring consistent quality, proper cooking techniques, knife handling, and strict adherence to California safety and sanitation regulations.

Responsibilities include daily station setup/breakdown, maintaining strict health department sanitation standards (FIFO) and collaborating with the team to ensure, timely, high-quality, and consistent plating. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Station Setup & Service: Set up and manage specific stations (sauté, grill, pantry, fry) with required ingredients, tools, and equipment.
  • Production & Cooking: Prepare menu items to exact recipe specifications, ensuring proper, timely, and consistent cooking techniques.
  • Collaboration: Work in a team environment with other cooks to ensure all dishes in an order arrive simultaneously.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Sanitation & Cleaning: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, following all health department codes (e.g., proper food labeling, dating, and rotation).
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and restock stations during service; communicate shortages to management. 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a line cook, prep cook or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of professional cooking techniques, knife skills, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations (California Food Handler Card required).
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, and hot environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with varied temperatures.
