Position Summary
The Lead Cashier is responsible for managing and mentoring the cashier team while also performing daily cashier functions. In this role, you'll train and develop cashiers, ensure accurate and efficient transactions, and maintain high standards for customer service. You'll also open and close registers, handle cash balancing, monitor Point-of-Sale (POS) procedures, and serve as a keyholder when management is unavailable.
This role is ideal for someone who is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and thrives in a leadership position within a fast-paced retail environment.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Training
  • Train, develop, and provide ongoing education to new and current cashiers.
  • Lead by example with professionalism, initiative, and customer engagement.
  • Inspire trust and confidence by setting clear expectations and demonstrating consistency.
  • Support a positive culture through accountability and coaching.
  • Assist with staffing needs and evaluate cashier performance.

Sales & Customer Engagement
  • Implement and drive customer engagement strategies to achieve sales and margin goals.
  • Lead by example in completing customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor and improve cashier key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Deliver excellent customer service with honesty, courtesy, and urgency.

Store Operations & Administration
  • Open and close registers daily, ensuring proper procedures and POS system accuracy.
  • Complete cash balancing and oversee cashier compliance with policies.
  • Maintain safety awareness and operational standards.
  • Serve as acting manager in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager (Keyholder responsibilities).
  • Support store organization, inventory, and customer service initiatives.
