The Senior Underwriter possesses strong analytical and interpersonal skills to effectively promote and position and market our organization, our business model as well as products and services. This will require such Senior Underwriter to think strategically, determine measurable goals and objectives, create strong relationships with distribution, lead a team to successful outcomes, understand Coaction's appetite and be product and subject matter expert on the changing landscape of the industries and customer needs within our Private & Non-Profit Management Liability offerings.
Responsibilities
โข Analyze and underwrite complex Private & Non-Profit Management Liability accounts of all sizes, industries and risk characteristics for D&O, Employment Practices, Fiduciary Liability and Commercial Crime products.
โข Assess and analyze regulatory exposure, financial strength, corporate governance, internal controls, regulatory status and claims/loss history
โข Determine appropriate coverage terms, pricing and insurance program structure
โข Prepare and document risk assessments, underwriting authority referrals and pricing justification in accordance with underwriting guidelines
โข Achieve premium, profit and expense targets goals
โข Build and maintain strong broker and client front office relationships
โข Respond promptly to submissions, inquiries, product questions, quote and other service requests
โข Represent Co/Action Specialty brand at meetings, conference calls and industry events
โข Adhere to portfolio steering and management specifications
โข Maintain bottom-line oriented underwriting discipline and profitability
โข Monitor aggregate exposures
โข Assist in business planning and forecast of financial results
โข Ensure all policy and underwriting file documentation is accurate and complete
โข Collaborate with the Professional Lines team and other units at Coaction
โข Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments and financial sector-specific news
โข Stay informed of peer underwriting behavior, product offerings and ratings actions
โข Contribute to product development, thought leadership and strategy
Qualifications
โข Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferably in finance, insurance, risk management, accounting, economics or related field of study
โข Minimum of 5 years' experience underwriting professional liability lines of business
โข Proven ability to underwrite complex Private & Non-Profit accounts for D&O, Employment Practices, Fiduciary and Commercial Crime products.
โข Strong customer-oriented product management skills
โข Strong negotiation skills
โข Ability to explain underwriting decisions
โข Familiarity with loss history analysis, financial analysis
โข Superior communication and organizational skills
โข Strong project and people management skills
โข Must be able to identify exposures and hazards and willingness to learn
โข Ability to distill complex concepts into simpler examples
โข Strong decision-making skills
โข CPCU or RPLU preferred
Salary range specific to for this role: $116,000-$148,000 + discretionary incentive bonus + benefits depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, and qualifications. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
