Job description

Job Description:

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated chemist to join our dynamic, interdisciplinary drug discovery team. In this lab-based role, you will contribute to the development of our discovery engine and support medicinal chemistry efforts across multiple programs. This position offers the opportunity to work flexibly across solution-phase small molecule synthesis and automated peptide synthesis, depending on project needs.

Ideal candidates will be passionate and energetic, with strong hands-on synthetic organic chemistry experience and a desire to contribute in a fast-paced discovery environment.

  • Specific responsibilities include: Contributes to peptide library synthesis to optimize binding affinity, permeability, and other drug-like properties.
  • Operate automated peptide synthesizers and conduct solid-supported and solution-phase reactions as required by project demands.
  • Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and propose practical solutions to advance programs efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and communicate results clearly to project teams.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to address evolving chemistry needs across programs.
  • What you’ll need to be successful: BS or MS in Chemistry or a related field with 1-3+ years of industry or academic research experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Strong foundation in organic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and modern synthetic methods.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience, including reaction setup, purification, and characterization.
  • Experience with LC-MS and standard analytical techniques is required.
  • Experience with peptide synthesis (SPPS or automated platforms) is preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility and willingness to transition between small molecule and peptide synthesis as project priorities evolve.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work on-site and attend in-person meetings.
