Job description

Job Summary: 

The Central Transport Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and recording of patient transportation activities to ensure safe, timely delivery of patients to and from treatment areas while maintaining awareness for opportunities to promote the WE CARE Philosophy. The Central Transport Supervisor, in addition to supervising the central transport staff, is responsible for assisting with patient transport as needed. The Central Transport Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager of Central Transportation. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.

Performance Expectations:

  • Demonstrate an ability to delegate tasks effectively and efficiently to the patient transporters.
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate expected job performance outcomes and to validate completion of assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain an accurate log of patient transporters’ assignments and distributes their workload evenly to ensure no patient transporter works significantly more or less than the others.
  • Demonstrate an ability to provide and assist with high quality on-the-job training for patient transporters to ensure they understand how to use assigned equipment properly and safely.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely transport patients of all ages/development levels to and from our facility department.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate in a friendly, courteous, and compassionate manner in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and employees while achieving exceptional, sustained quality patient care, satisfaction, and loyalty.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills:      

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college courses in communications, public relations or related areas are preferred. A training program will be required to include the patient transport system, transport procedures, use and operation of a utility cart, wheelchair, stretcher, bed, and oxygen tank.

Work Experience:    

Two years in a job with considerable customer service, a proven record of effective communications skills, with some supervisory experience. Ability to write legibly and to maintain records accurately; ability to use multi-line telephone; experience using computers; ability to type 35–40 wpm.
