What You Will Do
As a Development Review Coordinator I in the Department of Planning & Land Management, you will support development within Carroll County by coordinating the development review process. We are looking for a professional who can present project information in a variety of settings. You will conduct field inspections and write comprehensive reports on your assigned projects.
Essential Duties
  • Review amended plats, minor subdivisions, and basic site plans against applicable regulations and guidelines. Communicate design issues to developers, engineers, attorneys, and citizen advocates.
  • Coordinate technical project review for assigned projects. Facilitate the interagency review process and manage citizen issues.
  • Present assigned development projects to the Carroll County Planning & Zoning Commission. Discuss interagency review issues and citizen concerns.
  • Present basic project reviews and staff report findings at the monthly Technical Review Committee meeting for assigned projects.
  • Meet with developers, engineers, attorneys, and citizens to review and/or discuss development plans. Provide technical insight regarding site design and layout.
  • Conduct field inspections at development sites.
  • Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.
  • Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Exhibit integrity, ethics, and fiscal responsibility.

  • May be required to work outside of standard hours.
  • Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements

Working Conditions
  • Occasional physical activity: standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying, climbing steps, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
  • Occasional exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
