Job description

Care At Home is a licensed home care agency in the state of Kansas. We are looking for a dedicated, caring and self-directed individual to fill a position for a caregiver for one of our client's in Olathe. This is a day-shift position between 7am and 5pm. Must be available to work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 7am to 5pm. Must have a vehicle and auto insurance.

The definition of a caregiver is someone who looks after the well-being of vulnerable people. They help people to live their lives as independently as possible and support them in reaching their potential, through both practical and emotional support.

The type of care you provide will be tailored to the needs of the individual. It is an incredibly varied and rewarding role as you will be helping elderly people to improve their quality of life, achieve their goals and make a very real and positive difference to their lives.

Caregiver will often be required to react to a patient’s Activities for Daily Living (ADL) needs, but typical duties will include:

  • Assisting clients with care such as grooming, washing and maintaining personal hygiene standards
  • Preparing and serving healthy, nutritious meals, taking into account any special dietary needs and personal preferences
  • Preparing food and drinks for patients
  • Medication reminders
  • Contributing to a clean, well-organized and pleasant environment for the client(s)
  • Assisting with domestic tasks including shopping, cooking, cleaning, and washing/laundry.
  • Perform some light housekeeping duties like vacuuming and mopping/sweeping the floors.
  • Making care notes and managing the daily care logbook.
  • Transporting client to appointments and/or errands.

Support Worker Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Commitment to helping others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathetic with good listening skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to carry out domestic duties.
  • Willingness to assist with basic healthcare practices.
  • Patient and emotionally resilient.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
