Job DescriptionThe Role To evaluate and underwrite Commercial Programs, written on a surplus-lines basis via MGA partnerships on behalf of Canopius US Insurance (CUSI), in accordance with the approved business plan and defined personal authority limits.
Responsibilities - Review individual submissions to MGA's for policies that fall outside of their assigned authority levels.
- Comply with company policies and risk appetite.
- Adhere to Underwriting guidelines and contract terms such as risk limits, rates, and aggregate limits.
- Conduct monthly and annual audits.
- Further develop company relationships with assigned MGAs.
Skills and Experience - 3-7 years of commercial underwriting experience.
- General knowledge in Commercial Property/Liability/Auto/IM/MTC/Excess/Package Underwriting in one or more of the following classes: Mercantile, Hospitality, Habitational, Transportation, Manufacturing, Wholesale and Cannabis; preferably a generalist.
- Individual desk underwriting / quoting experience.
- Interpret written guidelines for Underwriting rules and apply to real life scenarios
- Communication skills.
- Ability to work and learn with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Have accountability for assigned tasks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Decision maker.
- Ability to adapt and change.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
