Job description

CAMS is seeking a Maintenance Manager for the Three Rivers Energy Center near Morris, IL. The incumbent will have 5 direct employees. Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the incumbent is responsible for all aspects of plant maintenance, constantly assessing systems in place to ensure they are maintained safely and efficiently. This candidate will be comfortable managing a team, conducting analysis to highlight areas for improvement, and should also possess strong organizational skills to keep track of multiple projects at once. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance processes, development of procedures, and overseeing contracted work on site.

The CPV Three Rivers Energy Center is a new, highly efficient electric generating station with 1x1 natural gas fired combined cycle power blocks facility utilizing GE 7HA.02 Gas Turbines and A650 Steam Turbines, each in single shaft configuration with air cooled condensers and other associated auxiliary equipment. The 1250 MW facility is interconnected to ComEd and sells power into the PJM market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promotes and works with others in a team environment
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the facility to support achieving company and group goals.
  • Manage the maintenance planning process in relation to week-to-week planning and plant outages including developing workflow charts, critical paths, analyzing material needs and overseeing the writing of requisitions for materials and equipment
  • Be passionate about a safe work environment and culture: Develop, maintain, and enforce safe working conditions by providing proper and adequate tools, equipment, protective clothing, and devices. Establish and enforce safe work behaviors. Participate in the setting of safety goals for an accident-free work environment. Communicate to employees the importance of a safe work environment daily. Investigate report and track incidents/accidents including root cause analysis and corrective action taken. Be responsible of findings and communicate them to employees.
  • Responsible for resolution of Human Resource issues
  • Select, train, develop and manage a work force that is motivated, flexible in skills, cross-trained and technically astute ensuring an effective and motivated team.
  • Continually develop spare parts inventory with proper consideration for critical spares, capital spares, consumables, and on-time delivery of parts and materials required for outages and other maintenance activities.
  • Maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure deadlines and fiscal targets are met.
  • Oversee the facility’s maintenance program to ensure that it contains an effective mix of preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance.
  • Ensure that detailed work scopes are developed that support complete understanding of the work and application of safe work procedures.
  • Maintain records including work order completion, internal reports, third-party reports, and OEM reports so that a complete and accurate record of work is maintained.
  • Enter and administer maintenance agreements and contracts in accordance with company and Owner policies and all relevant terms and conditions.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through change management process and best practices.
  • Make expeditious appropriate decisions to non-routine plant operating conditions.
  • Develop and present annual maintenance budgets
  • Approve maintenance expenditures and verify invoicing is accurate
  • Prepares accurate plant documentation, to assure proper historical records and reporting of plant maintenance is completed
  • Develop and executes projects assigned by Plant Manager.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and ensure active compliance with environmental, health & safety, and NERC programs.
  • Respond to forced outages on a 24/7 basis, develop and execute recovery plans as necessary.
  • Develop a system to track improvement of planned outages.
  • Other duties as designated by the company.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or the equivalent in training or experience
  • 8-10 years’ experience in power plant (Combined Cycle preferred) operations and maintenance or similar industry required.
  • Proven managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience indicating effective communication skills, analytic ability, detail orientation, and ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and extensive experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Extensive knowledge of gas and steam technologies preferred.
  • Experience with operations and maintenance of gas turbine, steam turbine, generators, heat recovery steam generators, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic devices, controls, and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of human resources desired
  • Proficiency with personal computers, including Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment and lifting to 50 pounds.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals

$170,000 - $190,000 a year

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
