Job description

The California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) is seeking to hire a student assistant to independently and collaboratively perform various assignments including reviewing analyzing, and processing retirement related transactions within our CalSTRS internal databases. Request and review various member account related documents. Maintain and update statistical reports on Excel and SharePoint; these tasks require the ability to retain and understand policies, laws, and regulations to ensure compliance with the Teachers' Retirement Law and CalSTRS policies and procedures under the general supervision of a CalSTRS Supervisor or Manager.

Under the general supervision of a CalSTRS Supervisor or Manager, the Student Assistant will receive training from department staff and gain practical experience by observing and assisting with the work performed; assist in and support the Employer Services Division; analyze and evaluate data. Primary role will be to provide support to the Employer Reporting Validation and Account Maintenance teams, however, will also perform support functions for the division as a whole when necessary. May be utilized to review and process retirement related forms and other related administration activities in the division. The student assistant must exercise a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and initiative to resolve issues.
