Job Summary

Join our team as a Part-Time Shop Assistant, where your friendly personality and attention to detail will help create memorable experiences for every visitor. This role is primarily focused on customer service, retail operations, and keeping our shop beautiful, organized, and welcoming. You’ll also help with packaging chocolates and occasional kitchen tasks as needed, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at artisan chocolate production.

Responsibilities

• Greet every customer with warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism
• Provide thoughtful product recommendations and help customers select gifts and treats
• Operate the register and process sales accurately
• Restock displays and merchandise throughout the day
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and inviting (sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, washing dishes, and general upkeep)
• Assemble gift boxes and assist with special orders
• Communicate low stock, customer feedback, and shop needs to the owner

Packaging & Kitchen Support

• Package chocolates and confections with care and attention to presentation
• Fold boxes, apply labels, and prepare packaging for retail and wholesale orders
• Assist with simple kitchen and production tasks as needed
• Maintain a clean workspace and follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Support busy holiday and event production periods with packaging and organizational tasks

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, reliable, and genuinely enjoys working with people
• Previous retail or customer service experience is highly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and pride in creating a polished customer experience
• Comfortable working independently in a small, sometimes fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain on your feet during shifts
• Food handling or kitchen experience is a plus
• Previous pastry, baking, or commercial kitchen experience is a bonus and will definitely set applicants apart, but it’s not required
• Must be at least 16 years old
