Job description

SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for providing overall management and administration of HR and Benefits Administration to enable executive management to make sound human resource management decisions. Responsible for overall HR functions in accordance with Tribal, Federal, and State laws and gaming regulations statutes; the Comanche Nation Entertainments' Mission Statement and objectives of the organization and established policies, procedures and controls. The Director of HR is responsible for overall administration of Comanche Nation Entertainment benefits. The Director of HR's performance has a direct effect on all employees of Comanche Nation Entertainment and is essential to the casinos reaching their full potential in providing a superior entertainment experience for casino guests.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides HR consultation and advice to the CEO, CNGBOD, Casino Managers, and Human Resource Directors at the casinos. Coordinates actions with supervisors, department managers and administrative personnel regarding evaluations, complaints, and disciplinary actions to include suspensions and terminations. Assures compliance with employment laws.
  • Serves as the supervisor for the Benefits Administrator in the administration of the benefits program of Comanche Nation Gaming and oversees the benefits program operation at all casinos and the CNGBOD Office.
  • Provides HR services for the CNGBOD Office to include: Maintenance of personnel files; administration of training for all employees and departments; responds to unemployment benefit applications and claims; ensures all employees within areas of responsibility receive fair and equitable treatment with regard to their respective conditions of employment.
  • Provides monthly reports and special reports to the CEO and the CNGBOD members in regards to turnover, tribal ethnicities, and cost per unit.
  • Works with Casino management and HR staff to promote a high level of customer service among employees.
  • Cooperates with casinos and the Tribal Gaming Commission through implementation of uniform casino procedures and assists in developing a unified corporate environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Director of Human Resources will likely be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with difficult and/or irate guests and staff members. Work is performed throughout all areas of the facilities where the noise level varies from quiet to loud depending on the time of day, the specific location, and the amount of business. Must be able and willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and in a smoke filled environment.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's degree in Business or related area from a four year college or university and two years of Human Resource management experience; or six (6) or more years of Human Resources Management experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The preferred candidate will possess Professional Human Resources certification (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification.
