    Job description

    GRASS CUTTER – PART TIME

    Pay: $13.00 per hour

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Performs outdoor grounds maintenance for the City of Wheeling, ensuring safe and well-maintained public spaces.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Mow and maintain grass in city-owned areas.
    • Operate and maintain grounds equipment, including cleaning, greasing, and washing; report any maintenance issues.
    • Follow all work zone safety procedures.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Primarily outdoor work in all weather conditions.
    • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, heat, cold, and wet/humid conditions.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment.
    • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
    • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong commitment to safety.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
    • Able to perform physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
