Role Description This full-time, on-site Mental Health Clinician role is based in San Diego, CA. The clinician provides direct behavioral health services, including assessment, individual, group, and family therapy, and crisis intervention for youth in a correctional setting. Daily responsibilities include conducting psychosocial evaluations, developing and updating treatment plans, coordinating care with multidisciplinary medical and custody teams, and maintaining accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The role also involves participating in case conferences, offering psychoeducation, supporting discharge planning and continuity of care, and contributing to a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and resilience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
  • Knowledge of assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-informed treatment of mental health and co-occurring conditions.
  • Experience in Family Therapy or working with family systems, with skills in communication, conflict resolution, and support for reintegration when appropriate.
  • Relevant professional licensure or eligibility (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in the state of California.
  • Experience in correctional, community mental health, or acute care settings preferred, with strong crisis management and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, follow security protocols, and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong documentation, time management, and organizational skills; proficiency with electronic health records.
