Job description



Job Title: Bilingual Youth Development Facilitator

Job Summary:

The Education, Career and Enrichment department at CASES specializes in serving youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system. The Assertive Community Engagement & Success (ACES) program seeks a Bilingual Youth Development Facilitator to enhance group content for participants. Group consist of Life Skills, CBT, Violence Prevention, Peace Circles and more. ACES is a program serving young men residing in East Harlem or the South Bronx who may not have started but can strive to overcome threatening environment and system-involvement to find the path to success. These young people will engage in high-risk behaviors and voluntarily engage with the ACES program.

Through the development of long-term multi-year relationships with young people, CASES will meet the young people where they are (literally, with extensive services in the community) to open new opportunities. The safety of our participants and staff is paramount as we continue to see our work make an impact and grow.

Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm

Location Address: 4 West 125th Street New York, NY 10027.

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible (for roles that have days that can be partially remote, e.g., being able to draft notes at home after going to the office/community in the morning).

Salary: The salary for the Youth Development Facilitator is $62,000 a year.


What you will be doing:

  • Create supportive, healing and engaging group spaces for participants   
  • Develop lessons based on topics that are:
    • of interest
    • Supportive of the ReWire a CBT model used in the program
    • Includes expertise from other team members
  • Create lesson plans, activities, curricula that are engaging, culturally responsive and trauma-informed
  • Develop a strong relationship with the participants in the program
  • Facilitate multiple weekly groups on site
  • Deliver content to participants in the community who cannot come to the office due to safety concers
  • Conduct individual sessions to support participants in achieving personal goals
  • Collaborate with other team member to ensure content feels relevant to the needs of the participants
  • Conduct field work with Youth Workers when needed to engage participants
  • Attend trips and activities with the team
  • Participate in Trainings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director

What we are looking for: 

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system with understanding that ACES participants are not mandated and will require a new approach to youth work
  • Bilingual in Spanish / English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Group facilitation skill
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors using de-escalation techniques
  • A willingness to adhere to an evolving model with the understanding that ACES is intended to be different from other programming
  • A belief that ACES participants, community members and team members have the ability and capacity for change
  • An understanding of whom ACES serves and the environment they live in
  • A commitment to the team to support them through difficult moments and celebrate the beautiful moments!
