Job description

Wesleyan CAPS Extern Trainees will provide individual psychotherapy to college-aged students presenting with a full range of psychiatric difficulties.
The trainees will gain experience providing both long-term and time-limited therapy with this population. Additionally, they will regularly conduct clinical intake sessions which include comprehensive risk assessments. While individual therapy comprises the majority of the trainee's clinical hours, they also have the opportunity to co-lead clinical groups with the professional clinical staff. Group offerings change from semester to semester and year to year according to staff interest and availability. Trainees will also have the opportunity to participate in various outreach and education efforts presented by the office. Finally, CAPS offers a limited cognitive assessment program in which pre-doctoral trainees have the opportunity to conduct cognitive assessments with Wesleyan students suspected of having a learning disability.
