Job description

The renowned Butler Hospital is seeking a full-time or part-time Psychiatrist to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and other behavioral health professionals. The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients presenting to our Inpatient Access Center (Emergency Room).

  1. Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for a diverse patient population.
  2. Flexible scheduling: Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday second-shift coverage.
  3. Shift flexibility: 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts available.
  4. Work within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team that includes attending psychiatrists, psychiatry residents, social workers, pharmacists, and nurses.
  5. Opportunities for teaching with Psychiatry Residents and Fellows from Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
  6. Visa sponsorship available.
  7. Epic electronic medical record implemented system-wide.
  8. Candidates must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry.

Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital is the state's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital providing adults, seniors and adolescents specialized assessment and treatment for all major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse.

Butler is the major affiliated teaching hospital for psychiatry and behavioral health of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. It is the flagship hospital for its Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, which has been recognized by its peers as one of the top ten in the US. Butler is the major training site and the base hospital for the Brown University General Residency in Psychiatry.
