Position OverviewThe Audiologist has the responsibility to coordinate hearing conservation services which include identification and diagnostic evaluation of children from birth to 21 years in the districts assigned. The audiologist is a member of an educational team, assisting to insure the least restrictive environment and making recommendations and arrangements for proper programming for all children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Collaborative services are designed to address each child's individual treatment, communication, academic and psychosocial needs.
QualificationsThe Audiologist must have a master's or doctorate degree in audiology and have the appropriate license from the Iowa Department of Public Health and/or certification from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE). An Audiologist must further have the experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, cooperative teamwork, multiagency coordination, and excellent written and verbal communication.
