Chimney & Hearth Service Technician Apprentice

Build a skilled-trade career while earning a paycheck.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join a 1-year Chimney & Hearth Service Technician Registered Apprenticeship Program. No prior chimney experience is required. You’ll receive paid, hands-on training alongside an experienced technician while completing industry-specific education designed to prepare you for the CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep® credential.

This is an active, hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, working in different environments, and taking pride in quality work.

What You'll Learn & Do

As an apprentice, you will learn to:

• Prepare safe, protected work areas
• Inspect chimneys, fireplaces, flues, and required safety clearances
• Identify damage, creosote buildup, moisture issues, and safety concerns
• Clean chimneys and hearth systems
• Service fireplaces and related components
• Install and replace chimney components
• Perform masonry and waterproofing repairs
• Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and chimney cleaning equipment
• Document inspections and completed work
• Explain findings and service recommendations to customers
• Maintain clean, organized tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas
  

What We're Looking For

• Age 16 or older
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Dependable and able to work as part of a team
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Professional and courteous with customers
• No prior chimney experience required
  

Apprenticeship Benefits

• Starting wage: $12.60/hour
• Progressive wage increases up to $18.50+/hour

About the Apprenticeship

This is more than an entry-level job physically located in Concordia, KS. The apprenticeship combines paid employment, structured on-the-job skill development, industry education, mentorship, and progressive wage increases.

By the end of the program, the apprentice will have developed the skills to inspect, clean, maintain, and repair residential chimneys, fireplaces, stoves, and venting systems while providing professional service to customers.
