Job Summary
The Shared Living Provider plays a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs by offering personalized care and assistance in a home-like environment. This position involves fostering a nurturing atmosphere that promotes independence, dignity, and respect for the residents. The Shared Living Provider will work closely with individuals to ensure their daily needs are met while enhancing their quality of life through meaningful interactions and activities. As a home provider, you share your home with an individual with a disability. Your responsibility is to maintain a safe and healthy home environment for the individual and be a mentor while helping the person as needed with the tasks of daily living.


Duties

  • Provide compassionate care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Support residents in developing skills for independent living while respecting their rights and preferences.
  • Maintain a safe and clean living environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Document care provided and any changes in the resident's condition in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Engage residents in recreational activities that promote socialization and cognitive engagement.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop individualized care plans.
  • Ensure the rights of residents are upheld at all times.
  • Provide support for medical protocols, such as seizure, fall, feeding tube, etc.
  • Care for someone with complex physical/medical needs (i.e., hearing impaired, vision impaired, non-ambulatory, etc.)
  • Potential support of behavioral issues.


Skills

    • Strong understanding of resident rights and advocacy.
    • Experience in patient care, particularly in memory care or senior care settings.
    • Knowledge of group home dynamics and home community care practices.
    • Ability to perform first aid when necessary.
    • Culinary skills to prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
    • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
    • Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding resident information as per HIPAA regulations.


This role is perfect for individuals with experience as a Caregiver, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), Nurse (LPN/RN), DSP (Direct Support Professional), Stay at Home Parents or other related fields.

This role is essential for creating a supportive environment that empowers individuals while ensuring their well-being. The Shared Living Provider will be an integral part of the community, making a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.

What are the requirements to become a Shared Living Provider?

  • Transportation, valid driver's license, car insurance and current registration
  • Available bedroom in your home
  • Active home/renters insurance
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience preferred, but not required
  • Reliable computer and internet access
  • Complete all state mandated trainings
  • Environmentally safe and clean residence
  • Ability to pass State/Federal and APS/CPS background check
