Job description

Summary:

Under the supervision of the County Clerk, this position assists with the statutory duties and daily operations of the County Clerk’s Office. The position is responsible for processing a variety of official documents and providing professional, courteous service to the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process documents related to court cases, legal registrations, concealed weapon permits that includes fingerprinting, DBA filings, and vital records.
  • Assist the public with departmental inquiries and requests in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence.
  • Represent the County Clerk in their absence by following established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure documents and transactions are processed in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the County Clerk.

*This is a fast-paced office environment that requires the ability to manage a wide variety of responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and excellent customer service.

Eligibility:

This position is open to all individuals who meet the minimum qualifications outlined below.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous clerical or administrative experience required.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to effectively multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening and criminal background check.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to travel to locations throughout Michigan to attend state-required training courses and other educational programs related to the duties of the County Clerk’s Office.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a busy public-service environment while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
