Job description

BluePoint Engineering (BPE) is seeking a Electrical Studies Engineer to join our engineering team. They will be an integral member of the team, responsible for the design of substations up to 500kV. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for design of and analysis of electrical substations.

The candidate will be responsible for providing direction to other design team members to coordinate the development of overall design packages. The Electrical Studies Engineer will report to the BPE Department Manager and work closely with senior leadership. They must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.

Qualification,

The Electrical Studies Engineer will have the following experience and attributes:

Required Qualifications:

· A minimum of a BS degree in electrical engineering or related degree

· Desire/passion to work with a variety of customers in the energy industry

· 7+ years electrical electrical design experience (Substation Preferred)

· Registration as a PE licensure

· Experience with the following analysis using ETAP or similar software:

o Load flow

o Harmonics

o Short circuit,

o Arc flash

o Electromagnetic Transient (EMT)

o Transient Over-Voltage (TOV)

o Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV)

o Insulation Coordination

o PSCAD or EMTP-RV

· Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, recommended practices

· Provide field support for engineering and technical questions.

· Develop and implement innovative solutions to optimize system performance and mitigate risks.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise and support in electrical analysis and troubleshooting.

· Prepare comprehensive reports documenting analysis findings, recommendations, and design modifications.

· Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies relevant to time domain analysis.

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience with Protection & Control design.

· Relay setting and coordination experience

· Substation commissioning and Relay testing experience

· Experience leading projects and team members
