The Role

Reporting to the CEO and sitting on the executive leadership team, the Head of HR owns the HR function end to end. The department has been rebuilt over the past three years and now needs a leader who can stabilize it, professionalize it, and scale it as headcount grows past 1,000. Immediate priorities include rebuilding consistency and trust across a small HR team, fully utilizing the company's existing HRIS platform, unifying a sales commission structure that varies across multiple legacy acquisitions, building a three-year talent acquisition and workforce planning roadmap, and supporting HR diligence and integration on ongoing M&A activity. This is an on-site role, five days a week, with roughly two multi-day trips per month for board meetings, branch visits, or acquisition work.

Qualifications

• Track record building and managing a functioning HR department from the ground up, not just running one that's already established
• Strong generalist background across employee relations, compliance, total rewards, and talent acquisition (candidates from siloed centers-of-excellence environments will not fit this role)
• Demonstrated ability to operate at a fast pace in a demanding, growth-stage or private equity-backed environment
• Experience scaling HR for a multi-site, blue-collar or distribution workforce of 500+ employees
• Hands-on management style: willing to do the work directly, not only delegate
• Willingness to travel roughly twice a month and work on-site five days a week
